Benchmarking Requirement – Due Annually
The Los Angeles Existing Buildings Energy & Water Efficiency (EBEWE) Ordinance mandates annual benchmarking and periodic audits for certain buildings to promote energy and water efficiency. The annual benchmarking requirement for buildings over 20,000 sq. ft. is due by June 1st each year. Additionally, energy and water efficiency audits and retro-commissioning (RCx) are required every five years, with deadlines based on the last digit of the property’s Building ID number.

Energy and Water Efficiency Audits and Retro-Commissioning Requirement – Due Every 5 Years
The Los Angeles Existing Buildings Energy and Water Efficiency Program is a City of Los Angeles program that requires building owners whose properties are located within the City of Los Angeles to conduct energy and water efficiency audits, and retro-commissioning (RCx) of their properties starting in 2020 with deadlines due based upon the last digit of the property’s Building ID number.
