Q: Why are some months blank in my Time Across Years report?

A: 

If you look again at the report, you may notice that the month immediately before or the month immediately after the missing data has about twice the value as the other months. What is happening is that Metrix is applying two months of data to one month, and no data to the other month.

Look at the affected meter's bill register. Chances are, that for the missing months, you will find that there is no bill listed in the bill register for that month. For example, you might have a bills with dates like:

March 29

April 30

June 2

June 30

In this case, there is no May bill, so Metrix is leaving the May column empty.

The good news is that Metrix can handle this. If you look at the bottom left corner of the bill register, you will see some verbiage that says: "a 'May' bill end date falls in the 1-month period starting on May 1." This means that if a bill's end date falls in the period from May 1 to May 31, the bill will be considered a 'May' bill. In the example case above, there would be no May bills.

To assign a bill to each month, you need to change the inputs in the bottom left corner of the bill register. I usually estimate the range of days when the bills fall (in this example, between the 29th and the 2nd), and then add about 15 to it (which comes to about 16). I would change the number from 1 to 16. The statement would now read: "a 'May' bill end date falls in the 1-month period starting on May 16." Each bill would now be assigned to a different month, as shown below.
